The Graffiti Museum You have never heard of is OG

The Graffiti Museum You have never heard of is OG (Original Gangster)

Yes, we have reached that point in Detroit where there are no more unauthorized collective tagging or "throw-ups"  of often incomprehensible lettering in spectacular colors on a building wall or underpass.

Some artists have been persuaded to do it for $, and unauthorized projects are usually greyed out by the city. If it is not in an approved space, kiss it goodbye.

Thankfully, the City for once has realized that people come from all over the world to see our streets and catch some grit. Detroit's are resilient and we have grit. We have some legends too. The graffiti legends of SW Detroit used to paint a retaining wall at Newark Street starting at 20th street and ending at 18th Street. There on both sides, are walls with the tracks on the top. The Google Maps timeline starting with 2009 shows how the area got populated. It really started looking amazing circa 2015.

I have a video of 2015 Newark Street and this post has a video of  May 2024. Unfortunately, nobody knows about this wall. Unless you are a fan of Google Photospheres or are good at figuring out where skateboarders and graffiti artists hang out, this outdoor art tends to go unnoticed., despite how safe it is to just walk down the street, or take a picture with your cell phone.  See the video below :

No Urban Exploring is required: besides that is illegal.
